Accomplishments of the Foundation
In 2007 the Jays World Childhood Cancer Scholarship Program awarded $50,000 in scholarship money to seven graduating high school seniors from all over the greater New York area. In December 2007 the Foundation donated $50,000 to fund the rooms at Winthrop University Hospital.
Since 1997 the Foundation
has received numerous citations from the Town of Oyster Bay for
all the work that has been done for children with cancer.
Governor George E. Pataki and the New York State
Assembly designated one week in the year as �Childhood Cancer Awareness
Week in the State of New York .�
St. Jude's Children's Research
Hospital has received $100,000 from the Foundation in hopes of
finding a cure for cancer.
The North Shore Pediatric
Cancer Treatment Center was supported with approximately $350,000
in contributions.
Since June of 1998 the Foundation
has awarded over 60 cancer survivors with scholarships to help
with the cost of their college tuition. Total funds awarded to
date is over $400,000.
Because of the radiation treatment
children receive, the Foundation has assisted patients in banking
their sperm and or eggs to allow them to have a family in the
future.
In 2001, $50,000 was donated to the Cancer Center
for KIDS at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola , New York
, for a �State of the Art Blood Lab Machine.�
In 2002, $100,000 was donated
to Winthrop-University Hospital for the funding of a room for
children with cancer on the new pediatric floor which opened
in 2004.
In 2003, $10,000 was donated
to the Cancer Center for KIDS at Winthrop-University Hospital
for a new microscope which will be used when checking children's
blood results.
In 2004, an additional $200,000
was donated to the pediatric floor at Winthrop-University Hospital
to ensure a safe place for pediatric cancer patients.
In 2005 the Jays World Childhood Cancer Scholarship
Program awarded $55,000 in scholarship money to eight graduating
high school seniors from all over the greater New York area. In December 2005 the Foundation donated $100,000 to fund the rooms
at Winthrop University Hospital.
To date, the Foundation has assisted twelve young adults in banking their reproduction fluids before they underwent radiation.
In 2006 the Scholarship Program awarded $68,000 to deserving high school seniors through out New York State.
